Chestnut Forage & Chestnut & Pappardelle Lunch

I love these seasonal events! And I looove chestnuts! Join me and I will take you to harvest chestnuts, and I’ll  show you how to easily prize them from their spiky burrs.

We will meet here at ORTO Farm and then a drive to a property laden with chestnut trees.

You must wear strong walking shoes, gumboots or shoes with solid soles as we will be stomping on chestnut burrs. Sun hat, water bottle, and clothing for all seasons.

Then a drive back to ORTO to score and cook chestnuts and to make an enriched pasta dough for pappardelle (a large egg noodle).

Chestnuts once cooked will be chopped finely and mixed with sage butter to flavour our pappardelle.

And to accompany our lunch, an acoustic performance of Italian folk songs and if you are up for it, join me for a simple tarantella.
