Chestnut Forage & Chestnut Pappardelle Lunch

I love these seasonal events! And I looove chestnuts! Join me & I will take you to harvest chestnuts & I’ll show you how to easily prize them from their spiky burrs.

We will meet here at ORTO Farm and then a drive to a property laden with chestnut trees.

You must wear strong walking shoes, gumboots or shoes with solid soles as we will be stomping on chestnut burrs. Sun hat, water bottle, and clothing for all seasons.

Then a drive back to ORTO to score and cook chestnuts and to make an enriched pasta dough for pappardelle (a large egg noodle).

Chestnuts once baked will be prized out of their skins by you & placed in bowls. Then you will chop them finely & mix them in a burnt butter sage to flavour our pappardelle.

And to accompany our lunch, a grazing platter, tiramisu & peasant vegetarian side dishes culminating in an acoustic performance of Italian folk songs by me and if you are up for it, join me for a simple tarantella.

Please wear strong boots/shoes and very cold weather clothing, as all parts of this event are outdoors.
