How to Identify Wild Edible Fungi with a Feast & Walk
Join me for an edible fungi adventure
Let’s spend a few hours sharing fungi foraging identification skills & fungi facts
We will drink hot coffee and tea, and eat scrumptious cake as we talk all things fungi.
Then let’s cook together and feast on fungi with garlic, balsamic vinegar, oil, thyme and a little butter.
Then equiped with our new knowledge let’s walk.
We will first look for fungi on my farm ORTO and then we shall travel to one other sight in the Hepburn area.
This walk is inspired by the work of Alison Pouliot and Tom May who published their fantastic book called Wild Mushrooming A guide for foragers in 2021.
We will look for the following edibles: Lactarius deliciosus, Suillus, Coprinus comatus Collybia nuda Macrolepiota clelandii Marasmius oreades. Agaricus species. Hydnum crocidens group Tremella fuciformis. Lycoperdon pratense
Rain, humidity and cool temperatures (around 20C) are best for finding fungi.. let’s see what we find
